Folio 136: Thomas Lumley to Lord Carteret. Burnett has obtained release of ship and officers belonging to John Cathcart & Co. of Glasgow. Sends copy of evasive answer from Mendonça over Protestant worship at Oporto (f.139). Sends copies of correspondence with Mendonça over the request for Mr. Johnson to go and live in Brazil (ff.141-43), but needs further clarification of his intentions. Sends copies of correspondence with Mendonça over illegal entry by Tobacco Duty officers into a British merchant's house (ff.145-154) and concerning two ships' mates illegally imprisoned and subsequently released (ff.150-54).
