Folio 114: Thomas Lumley to Lord Carteret. Will do his best to explain and justify to Portuguese why King George has imposed an extraordinary subsidy of £100,000 on the lands of his Roman Catholic subjects. Incident between the boat's crew of H.M.S. Lynn and some Portuguese soldiers with copies of relevant correspondence (ff.118, 122). Encloses copy of his memorial on the church for the English Factory at Oporto (f.120). Mr Worsley has left in H.M.S. Lynn for Barbados having been received with greatest courtesy by King, Court, and Secretary of State. Revolution (f.112) now reported to be in a desperate condition and likely to turn pirate.
