Folio 174: Thomas Burnett to Lord Carteret. Glad his intelligence reports from Spain are appreciated. Activities of Barbary Rovers and naval news. Arrest of Ferdinand Wingfield and Co., examination of their books and effects, for smuggling out gold and silver. Argues 400-year old legal prohibition never hitherto enforced, and export of bullion unavoidable and anyway permitted under article 10 of 1654 treaty. Matter is being handled by Worsley.
