Folio 2: Henry Worsley to James Craggs. Portuguese have no intention of breaking with Spain now that the Spanish government has promised to pay the long-disputed indemnity of 600,000 pesos (S.P.89/27, ff.217, 224). Their army and frontier defences are in a very bad condition. Portuguese still stalling over their adherence to Quadruple Alliance. Reported Anglo-Spanish naval engagement off Cape St. Vincent. Will try to get good intelligence [of Jacobites] from Spain, but his best agent is dead and two others have been banished on pain of death.
