Despite the friendliness of Diogo de Mendonça Corte-Real, he does not think the Portuguese ministers here or envoys at foreign courts are pro-British but rather the contrary. Resents criticism of the intelligence of Jacobite moves and Spanish mobilisation which he sends, and needs more money to pay for intelligence. Confirms that the Duke of Ormond's expedition is intended to invade England (f.38).
