Folio 24: William Poyntz to James Craggs. Congratulations on his appointment as Secretary of State (South). Portuguese Secretary of State's renewed assurances that resident English merchants at Bahia will not be molested or expelled. Three French East-Indiamen reportedly trading at Bahia with connivance of Portuguese government. Factory chaplain has died and a replacement is requested. Arrest and release of the St. Joseph brigantine.
