Portuguese government disclaim intention of expelling English residents from Brazil. Hopes to clear naval slops from Customs (S.P.89/5, f.227). Spanish mobilisation not directed against Portugal. Encloses an extract of Riperda's letter to the States-General (f.9). Convoy for the expected Rio Fleet. Death of the Emperor's Agent at Lisbon.
