Description

Folio 104: Henry Worsley to James Stanhope. Protocol problems. Cordial interview with King John V and latter's appreciation of British diplomatic support at Madrid. Affair of Mr. Medlicott. Reason why he had temporarily detained Sir Lawrence Trant as a suspected Jacobite. French efforts to supplant Great Britain as the mediator of peace with Spain. His discussion with the Secretary of State on the peace negotiations. Encloses extracts relating to illegal French trade with Brazil (f.110). Encloses a loyal address from the Consul-General and the Factory (f.111A), as also a memorial of the latter about the redress of their grievances.
