Folio 48: Diogo de Mendoça Corte-Real to the Marquis de Bay. Acknowledging his dispatch of 3 June. Whilst King John V is very anxious to conclude peace with Spain he can only do this, as previously agreed, through British mediation at Utrecht and not by direct negotiations on the frontier.
Date and place: 1714 June 7 Lisbon.
