Folio 181: Gawen Nash to [George Delaval]. Complains of the trouble and expense to which he has been put trying to obtain the release of the shipwrecked English sailors, in which the Alcaide of Tetuan has been most helpful. Great need for a government agent as all the trouble and expense falls on him and he has never yet been reimbursed. Deer reached the Emperor. If the Dutch release Ben Aisha and his ships, as reported, in exchange for nine Dutch slaves, this would be a very bad precedent.
Date and place: 1712 Aug 8, NS Tetuan.
