Folio 185: George Delaval to Lord Dartmouth. Thinks negotiations for the secret treaty have now lapsed, though they probably have an understanding to have only a sham war on the frontier. Incident over two officers accused of misconduct at Almeida closed. Operations on the frontier. An enemy incursion into Alentejo has now turned the poor people who were originally pro-ally, very much against the war. Fears the army will go into summer quarters although it is superior to the enemy and has two fresh English regiments just landed to reinforce it. Wants to know what he should do about Haller, who is still in his house, as none of the nobility will visit him while he is there.
