Description

Folio 199: Major-General John Newton to Lord Dartmouth. Army is retiring to Portugal by way of Juromenha, cavalry having suffered very much due to want of forage, incessant rain, and fatigue. This letter and the previous one have been transposed.

Date and place: 1710 Oct 12, NS `camp near Figueira'.
