Folio 185: Lt. General James Stanhope to Lord Galway, `or the officer commanding Her Majesty's troops in Portugal'. Has been in Madrid twelve days and hopes the Portuguese army will join him, which will end the war in the Allies' favour. If they refuse to advance so far, he begs the addressee to come with the British troops and the Portuguese in British pay. Also badly needs money, which he hopes may be sent from Lisbon.
