Description

Folio 89: Lord Galway to Earl of Sunderland. Very grateful for being recalled to England. Complains of the `puerilities' of the Portuguese Court and arguments over the sailing of the packet-boat. Attitude of the Count of Tarouca in London. Dispute over the English subsidies. Imperial ambassador annoyed. Frontier negotiations between Portuguese and Spanish generals (f.75). Need to change garrison and governor of Gibraltar after the mutiny. Guzman is an imposter. Recommends enclosed memorial (f.93) from A. Stert as being justified. Project for the mass desertion of Kilmallock's Irish dragoon regiment (f.71) has aborted, but Daniel Carroll and several officers and men have come over.
