Folio 65: Lord Galway to Earl of Sunderland. Refutation of the Count of Tarouca's memorial. Need to make enemy think that offensive operations are seriously intended on the Portuguese frontier. Count of Villa Verde, the new commander-in-chief seems well intentioned, and Galway is prepared to serve under him if necessary. Explanation of the officers' commissions which he has issued. Much ado over a problem of diplomatic protocol. Urgent need for barley from Britain (f.60).
