Folio 216: John Milner to Sir Charles Hedges. Largely repeats news in f.210, 214. Measures he has taken concerning John Methuen's official papers and correspondence. Portuguese convoy for Madrid intercepted at Salamanca and forced back to Ciudad Rodrigo with loss. Portuguese troops being very ill-paid plunder the peasants who consequently rise against them. Need for King Charles and Lord Peterborough to join das Minas and Galway as early as possible, any delay being very dangerous. Money problems and prisoners-of-war.
