Folio 204: Consul John Milner to John Tucker. Spaniards have intercepted the postillions and dispatches from Madrid. Precarious position of the Portuguese army at Madrid. Death of Ambassador John Methuen. Dubious activities of Stevecote, `a Flandrian & Roman Catholic', crony of Methuen's, who may be a spy or a double agent. News of Gibraltar and Cadiz received via Faro on 2 August.
Date and place: 1706 July 9 [sic for Aug] Lisbon.
