Folio 153: Consul John Milner to Sir Charles Hedges. Timely relief of Barcelona. Now that Ciudad Rodrigo has surrendered, he hopes Portuguese will march on Madrid as ordered by the King and urged by Lord Galway. He still doubts their sincerity, as what they really want to do is to take Badajoz. Cadiz would probably surrender, if bombarded. Whole Brazil Fleet has arrived safely and is `prodigous rich'. More need than ever for English warships to be stationed to cruise off the bar.
Date and place: 1706 June 4 Lisbon.
