Description

Folio 289: John Methuen to Sir Charles Hedges. Sends a translated copy of his letter to the Marquis of Alegrete and latter's reply (f.291) which show Portuguese are still stalling. They are still very lukewarm about besieging Badajóz in reality, though ostensibly preparing for it. Financial problems in raising money at Lisbon. Latest news from the fleet.
