Folio 122: John Methuen to Sir Charles Hedges. Wishes that the revised orders for Sir George Rooke had reached him before he left, so that developments could have been so much better. Silver from the galleon very timely in view of parlous state of Portuguese finances. Lord Slane and his potential (see f.88). News from the frontiers. Many French Protestants deserting from Duke of Anjou's army but allied command in the Alentejo is very supine.
