Folio 57: Roque Monteiro to Paul Methuen. Does not acknowledge that the Portuguese Guinea (Cacheo) Company is responsible for the loss sustained when the gold and silver bullion was seized by the Spanish authorities at Havana from the English ship Mary. But Pedro II to show his friendship for King William III and his subjects, has directed the Portuguese Envoy at Madrid to take up the matter there and demand satisfaction.
