Folio 166: John Methuen to [Sir John Trenchard]. French privateers active to a scandalous degree. Blathwayt has written from Flanders that King William has granted him leave to come home for two months, which he will not do till he hears from Trenchard. If he does,he will leave his son, Paul, who is fluent in Portuguese in his place, and hopes he will be granted a letter of credence accordingly.
Date and place: 1694 Oct 20/30 Lisbon.
