Folio 154: John Methuen to Sir John Trenchard. Worried that he has received no orders, instructions, or clarifications concerning his negotiations about Portugal and the Grand Alliance. French very active diplomatically, and Dutch and Spanish ministers have orders to act only in consultation with him. French privateers active and their activities tolerated. Tully (f.148) is in French ambassador's house.
