Folio 95: John Methuen to Earl of Nottingham. Posts and mails received and sent. French fleets reported safe back at Brest and Rochefort. Division of opinion in Council of State with votes of individual councillors on Allied offers to Portugal. King Pedro now verycritical of Allied miscarriages, `which he seemed to charge (at least that at sea) to the English ill-conduct only'.
Date and place: 1693 Nov 3/13 Lisbon.
