Folio 178: Charles Fanshaw to [Sir Leoline Jenkins]. On the expulsion of the Rev. Barton from Oporto (f.115) and the Portuguese arguments in justification of their action. Restitution proceedings hanging fire, as the Portuguese do not want to create an awkward precedent for themselves. Owners of the contraband bullion told to declare themselves. Vice-Consul Murcott has resigned his appointment at Oporto. Lisbon gossip concerning a match for the Infanta.
