Folio 170: Consul Maynard to [Sir Leoline Jenkins]. Great majority of the Factory at Oporto, whether Protestant or Catholic, refuse to abandon Murcott and to accept Maynard's appointee (s), or to pay his consulage. Hopes Jenkins will intervene on his behalf. He is not bound to pay the Vice-Consul at Oporto, as they demand, and if he did, then all the 15 Vice-Consuls under him would demand the same.
