Folio 84: Consul Maynard to [Sir Leoline Jenkins]. His lawsuit with the Factory at Oporto over their refusal to accept his dismissal of the Deputy-Consul, Edward Murcott, who has turned Roman Catholic, as have several merchants there. This is one of the reasons for the deportation of Rev. S. Barton. Fourteen of those involved in the bullion smuggling case are still imprisoned at Lisbon.
