Description

Folio 135: Charles Fanshaw to [Sir Leoline Jenkins]. Naval and shipping movements. Mortal illness of the Marquis of Fronteira, who was the chief Portuguese representative for negotiating over a new treaty. Incident over the French ambassador's absurd demand for hanging of a soldier (f.133), and protocol and precedence problems raised by the French ambassador, particularly with the Spanish.
