Folio 120: Charles Fanshaw to Sir Leoline Jenkins. Portuguese still stalling about negotiating a new commercial treaty, and certainly will not do it in Afonso VI's name. Duke of Cadaval going with a fleet to Savoy to bring back the young Duke who is betrothed to the Infanta. A Sally corsair forced ashore, with 103 Moors, and seven English slaves, who are being taken care of. Details. Mamora may be turned into another Barbary corsair port. Doubts if the secret negotiations between Spain and Portugal for a defensive league will come to anything.
Date and place: 1681 July 8, NS Lisbon.
