Folio 164: Francis Parry to Secretary Coventry. Has protested against the Portuguese authorities seizing the merchants' books at Oporto for examination, in breach of the 1654 Treaty, but cannot so far obtain any satisfaction. Mr Willoughby has been pardoned (ff.157, 160), but condemned to pay a large sum, which Parry will try to get remitted. Hopes to leave soon and to help with the negotiation of a new treaty `which is absolutely necessary'.
