Folio 26: Francis Parry to Sir Joseph Williamson. Report that the inhabitants of Fayal in the Azores, devestated by a volcanic outbreak two years ago, will emigrate en masse to Brazil, where a rich silver-mine is reportedly found near Bahia. In an endeavour to increase the Prince-Regent's revenue, Portuguese Customs have raised their valuations and duties in breach of the 1654 treaty as explained in the enclosed letter (f.24).
