Folio 176: Francis Parry to Lord Arlington. Spanish Ambassador claimed that he had powers to act as a mediator between Holland and Portugal, but this claim seems to be unfounded and the Portuguese Council of State is dissatisfied with the style of the credentials which he does have and of which Parry sends a copy (f.162). Dutch dismiss the danger of Portuguese intervention as negligible, since Portugal is too weak to do them any harm.
Date and place: 1672 Nov 12/22 Lisbon.
