Folio 154: Francis Parry to Lord Arlington. Both the government and the people now seem to be anxious for a war with Holland, in alliance with England and France, if these two powers will agree to the Portuguese terms. Many of the nobility and gentry are also in favour of a war with Castile, which the people and the clergy certainly are not.
Date and place: 1672 Oct 2/12 Lisbon.
