Folio 136: Consul Maynard to Lord Arlington. Asks him to take up the re-negotiation of the commercial treaty with Portugal. Unexpected arrival of three richly laden East-Indiamen. French fleet of twelve ships at Goa gives some concern, despite French offer to assist Portuguese against the Dutch, as Portuguese fear French may take Colombo and Galle in Ceylon for themselves. News of the great victory in Angola over the Negroes there. Colonel Dempsey may get his money after all.
