Folio 90: Francis Parry to Lord Arlington. Thanks for having obtained for him the responsibility of recovering the Queen's Portion. Portuguese seem anxious that Charles II should encourage them to join in the war against the Dutch, although no decision has yet been taken. Three good fourth-rate frigates now cruising off the coast against Barbary corsairs, but are still very short of seamen. Cardinalate bestowed on the Queen's uncle, and its local repercussions.
Date and place: 1672 June 11/21 Lisbon.
