Folio 63: Francis Parry to Lord Arlington. French now despair of inducing Portugal to break with Spain but still pressing government to declare war on Holland, although unlikely they will do so. Spanish ambassador and his rectification of an error in diplomatic punctilio (see f.51). He has now prepared all his suggestions for amending the treaty, but will not send them until Dom Francisco de Mello has full powers to negotiate.
