Folio 70: Consul Maynard to Secretary of State. Arrival of Colonel Pearson and departure of Bishop Russell. Does his best to please the Portuguese ministers, but cannot obtain redress for the merchants or pay for the soldiers. Portuguese project to invade Galicia with a force including the English contingent, who have now received some of their arrears of pay. Schomberg the real but the Count of Prado the titular commander-in-chief. Dutch boasting of their victory at Bergen over the English.
