Folio 63: Consul Maynard to Secretary of State. Portuguese hope for a great revival in their East-India trade. General satisfaction with the outstanding courage of the English troops. News of the victory of Lowestoft generally welcomed, save by the Jews, who are very harmful to English trade. Bombay at last handed over. Two Portuguese frigates save the crew and cargo of the English ship Hunter, but much of the Italian wine involved has been embezzled and Maynard is endeavouring to recover it.
