Folio 106: Sir Richard Fanshaw to Secretary Bennet. English mediation between Spain and Portugal. Payment of the English auxiliary troops. Peace with the Dutch considered very burden-some and is consequently unpopular. French attitudes to Spain. Schomberg, though not yet recovered from his recent illness, has left for the frontier in Alentejo. Prospects for the forthcoming campaign. King Afonso intended to leave for the frontier but was prevented by popular sentiment.
