Folio 80: Thomas Maynard to Secretary of State. Repeats news of alleged Spanish-Papal plot against life of Charles II. (see ff. 31 34 and 113). Adds news of Queen Regent's retirement, and of Major-General O'Brien's arrest. Portuguese preparations for the forthcoming campaign. Rumours of a marriage between King Afonso VI and a French princess, to be followed by powerful help from France. News of events in Morocco.
