Folio 121. Declaration by the estates of the circle of Upper Rhine, to be enclosed in the recess of Mar 1/11 (see f.76), accepting the deposition by certain seignories, viz. the principality of Nassau-Itstein, the lordship belonging to the counts of Solms-Braunfels, the manors of Isenburg, Trächtersdorf, Waldeck and Wittgenstein-Wittgenstein, that they are, 'for some serious reasons' ('aus einigen bedenklichen Ursachen'), unable to comply entirely with the 'quantum' imposed on them by the repartition ['reparation', MS] [based upon 200 'Roman months'] and could only 'concur' with it on the basis of 70 'Roman months'; and also accepting the statement by the count of Hanau that, because of a special pact with the principality of Hessen-Cassel and the expenses for garrisoning resulting from it, he will accede to the recess only at the end of the present campaign, after Nov 1 of the current year. The remainder of the estates will not, in future, demand, on behalf of the circle, that the seignories commit themselves in excess of what they have offered.
