Folio 167. From Colt. Acknowledges letter of May 9 [N.S.]. Progress of the march is not unsatisfactory and the forces may be together before the middle of June. Is 'alarmed' about the possibility of being ordered to follow the Elector to Frankfurt to re-equip himself in haste for his attendance. Requests Stepney to let him know about equipage, allowances, etc, of Johnston when he attended the Elector of Brandenburg on a similar errand. The Elector of Brandenburg passed near Torgau, but without making personal contact with the Elector of Saxony, though there was an exchange of compliments. Colt assumes that Brandenburg wanted to avoid an interview since he was with his consort, whereas Saxony had his mistress with him. The Brandenburg envoy at Dresden [Chwalkowski] has been called to Berlin and had to take his leave by letter which did not please Saxony, but Colt understands that the envoy will return [to Dresden].
