Folio 80. From [William Bentinck, first earl of] Portland. The King strongly desires the proposed appointment of prince [i.e. margrave] Louis of Baden-Baden as commander-in-chief of the Rhine army and of his plan of a tour of Holland to co-ordinate measures in preparation of the next campaign. Stepney is to try to be present as much as possible, and in accordance with his instructions, at conferences of a military character.
