Folio 73. From Warre. Reports on proceedings in Parliament. The Commons have ordered thanks to be rendered to the admiral and the flag officers and seamen for the victory last summer [La Hogue] and resolved that there should be an inquiry as to why it 'was not better pursued and the advantages lost which might have been had of it'. The Lords were examining the proceedings against the earls of Huntingdon and Marlborough who complained about their commitment and detention last summer [on suspicion of treason and intriguing with the army, respectively] as a breach of privilege, but Warre believes 'little more will be done in it'. Parliament of Ireland is prorogued to April 6, 1693; the lord-lieutenant [Sydney] expressed his dislike 'of some votes passed by the Commons ... introductory of new methods as to the formalities observed in passing acts of parliament there, to the prejudice of the crown of England'. Members are for the most part 'sensible of their error' and declared to have been misled by some of the King's council at law who are 'removed'.
