Folio 184v. To Görtz. Assumes Bruynincx has communicated to him the contents of his two letters (see ff.183 and 184v, ante). The elector's suspicions have been allayed. Thinks Holtzbrinck inspired them to excuse his lack of success in securing Schöning release. The elector hopes [Col George Charles von] Carlowitz [adjutant general] will be more successful. - Thanks him and Bruynincx for pressing the Emperor to pay the 50,000 écus to the elector, which will be absolutely necessary to secure his accession to the Grand alliance. Is writing in haste to have the letter carried by a courier who has come from Hanover.
