Folio 176v. To Görtz. Boineburg has not been able to advance the negotiation. The elector has not been willing to nominate negotiators: because of the treatment of Schöning. Both Holtzbrinck and Mme Rechenberg have persuaded the elector that by insistence he can obtain Schöning's release. Boineburg suggested to Stepney that he might suggest to the elector that the Emperor did not set Schöning at liberty for fear of offending the King and the States. But Stepney told him not to embroil the King who was not involved in the matter at all. He, Stepney, is worried by the delay in the negotiations and fears further delay over the question of the extra subsidy demanded by the elector.
