Folio 171v. To Bruynincx. Refers to a letter he had from Consbruch [date not given] warning him not to expect that Boineburg, about to arrive at Dresden, will bring any promise of higher subsidies from the Emperor and that England will have to make up the balance which the elector expects. Consbruch is responsible for Boineburg's instructions. The King would not have wished him, Stepney, to go to Saxony at all had he known that the Emperor was not going to pay his quota of 50,000 écus agreed upon, and this matter will delay the conclusion of a treaty with Saxony and possibly frustrate it. Asks Bruynincx to protest vigorously to the imperial court, he has also asked Görtz to do likewise. Arguments to be advanced include the English lack of money and to provide more for the King of which count Sternberg is already well aware. Asks Bruynincx further not to let Consbruch know that these thoughts were prompted by the latter's communication. - Expects the return of the elector from the [Leipzig] fair to-morrow, he may possibly be accompanied by Boineburg.
