Description

Folio 13v. To 'Dr Gatford'. Thanks him for 'procuring him so honest and ingenious a gentleman as Mr Walter' whom he, Stepney, showed 'all civillities' at Vienna and whom he recommended to a prince of Nassau who was going to Buda 'to visit our conquests in Hungary'.Writes about common acquaintances. Will try to satisfy Gatford's wishes for certain books. [Fragment, first portion only].

[hand of Plantamour]. Dr Gatford: Perhaps identical with the Rev Lionel Gatford, formerly scholar of Jesus College, Cambridge, afterwards successively rector of St Dionis Backurch, city of London, precentor and treasurer of St Paul's and archdeacon of St Albans. D. 1715.
