Folio 9. To Vernon. Finds that the relation of the 'battle of Flanders' [Neerwinden] he had sent him was printed at Brussels and thus may reach him sooner than what he, Stepney, dispatched. Is sending him anything in Latin passing through his hands, thus also therecent correspondence between the King and the elector of Saxony (see List SP 80/17, ff. 310-311) which he now forwards. News now received from the ambassadors to the Porte [Paget and Heemskerck]. Is losing no time in sending them full relations to prevent them from giving credence to what the French will report about allied losses by land and sea. Acknowledges letter of July 21.
