Folio 6v. To [? Vernon]. According to an express from the duke of Croy, the imperial army in Hungary is now encamped between Szlankamen and Semlin. There appears to be little doubt that they are preparing for a siege of Belgrade in whose neighbourhood there is no army and which might be once more in the Emperor's hands in less than a month unless the Turks 'clapp up an hasty peace' upon the basis of Uti possidetis as proposed by Heemskerck and Paget.
